We have some exciting news to share — our team at Audiologic Solutions is growing, and we'd love to introduce you to our newest audiologist. Dr. Kaelin Hansen, Au.D. spent her fellowship year with us, joined the practice full-time after graduating this year, and has already become a valued part of our clinical team. If you haven't had the chance to meet her yet, keep reading.

Her Background in Audiology

Dr. Hansen began her journey in hearing healthcare at Appalachian State University in North Carolina, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2020. She then completed her Clinical Doctorate at Northern Illinois University in 2026. During those years of training, she gained clinical experience across a wide variety of settings — a non-profit hearing clinic in Charlotte, NC, the James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (a VA facility serving veterans in the Chicago area), and several private practices across Illinois.

That variety shapes an audiologist in ways that matter. Working in community health, veteran services, and private practice means seeing different kinds of patients, different levels of access to care, and different types of hearing challenges. By the time she came to us for her fellowship, she already brought strong clinical instincts and a grounded understanding of what real-world hearing healthcare looks like.

From Fellowship to Full-Time

We think carefully about how we grow our team. A fellowship year gives everyone a chance to see how things fit — she gets to learn our approach, our patients, and the way we practice, and we get to see whether her values match ours and how she connects with the people we serve.

Dr. Hansen's fellowship year made the answer clear. She joined us full-time after graduation, and we're glad she's here.

What She Specializes In

Dr. Hansen's areas of focus include diagnostic hearing evaluations and hearing aid fittings. She's comfortable working with a wide range of hearing aid manufacturers and technologies, which gives her the flexibility to match each patient with something that actually fits their hearing loss, budget, and daily life — rather than defaulting to a one-size-fits-all recommendation.

And the range of options has never been better. Today's hearing aids can include AI-powered processing for noisy environments, rechargeable batteries with all-day wear time, and direct streaming from phones, TVs, and tablets. Getting the most out of that technology, though, depends on proper fitting and follow-up. Dr. Hansen understands that the fitting appointment is just the beginning, and she stays involved with patients through the adjustment process to make sure everything is dialed in the way it should be.

Her Philosophy on Patient Care

Dr. Hansen believes in meeting patients where they are. Not everyone comes through the door at the same stage of their hearing health journey — some have been dealing with hearing loss for years and are finally ready to take action; others are coming in for the first time, still figuring out whether their hearing is really the issue. Some patients are a little uncertain about hearing aids. Some are overwhelmed by the number of choices.

None of that is unusual, and none of it should feel like a hurdle. Her approach is simple: listen, explain clearly, and put the patient in the driver's seat when it comes to decisions about their own hearing health. That's the kind of care we've always tried to provide at Audiologic Solutions, and it's exactly the spirit Dr. Hansen brings to every appointment.

When she's not at the clinic, Dr. Hansen — originally from Charlotte, NC, and now settled in the Capital Region — spends her free time reading, sewing, and doing embroidery. We like to think it says something about her: patient, detail-oriented, and good with her hands.
