ReSound Sensia
The ReSound Sensia is a rechargeable hearing aid that uses AI and four-microphone beamforming to automatically bring forward the voice you are facing in noisy places.
The ReSound Sensia is a premium hearing aid family from GN Hearing that uses AI to focus on the person you are facing, rather than simply the loudest voice in the room. It builds on the small size and all-day battery of the ReSound Vivia while making its strongest speech-in-noise processing automatic. We fit the ReSound Sensia at Audiologic Solutions in Rensselaer, Hudson, Queensbury, and Saratoga Springs, NY.
How ReSound Sensia Handles Background Noise
AI noise reduction can separate speech from noise, but in a room full of talkers it may lock onto the most prominent voice, even one two tables away. Sensia addresses this with a system called Intelligent All-Around, which combines three technologies. AcoustIQ reads the sound environment and decides which features to engage. A four-microphone beam, formed by the microphones on both hearing aids working together, favors speech in the direction you are looking. AI denoising, a process trained to recognize speech, then reduces competing voices and distractions around that talker.
In quiet settings, Sensia keeps a natural, all-around sound. As noise rises, it gradually narrows its focus, and in a sustained conversation in a loud room it combines the beam and denoising automatically, with no need to switch programs on the hearing aid or in the app.
Key Features of the ReSound Sensia
- Automatic Speech Focus: Engages its strongest hearing-in-noise processing on its own in difficult conversations (Sensia 9 microRIE).
- AcoustIQ Sound Sensing: Identifies speech, noise, and speech in noise, then activates the right features for each.
- Four-Microphone Beamforming: Brings forward the voice in front of you while preserving awareness of your surroundings.
- All-Day Rechargeable Battery: At least 24 hours of use, and up to roughly 30 hours depending on usage.
- Durable, Water-Resistant Design: IP68-rated with a protective coating, available from a tiny microRIE to custom in-ear styles.
- Working Auracast and Bluetooth LE Audio: Auracast is fully functional at launch, letting you tune into public audio broadcasts in theaters and other venues.
In research presented by GN and validated by Hörzentrum Oldenburg, Sensia made the talker in front of the listener most audible for 80% of participants. That study measured which voice was easiest to hear rather than how many words were understood, so we treat it as encouraging evidence alongside your own real-world results.
Is the ReSound Sensia Right for You?
Sensia suits patients who want strong help in restaurants and gatherings without constantly adjusting their hearing aids. It also offers a CROS option for single-sided hearing loss and a bimodal model for Cochlear Nucleus implant users.
A few trade-offs are worth knowing: the fully automatic system is reserved for the top Sensia 9 microRIE, the strongest focus works best when you face your conversation partner, and music requires selecting a dedicated program. We review your hearing test and listening goals before recommending any device.
