Eardrum testing (tympanometry) measures how your eardrum responds to small pressure changes. It helps rule out things like fluid behind the eardrum. It takes a few seconds per ear and you won't feel a thing.

Depending on what we observe, we may also check your inner ear function. This quick, painless test measures how your cochlea, which is the hearing organ deep inside your ear, responds to sound.

Reading Your Results Together

After testing, we'll sit down and walk through your results together. Your audiogram is a simple chart showing your hearing across a range of pitches. It tells us whether your hearing falls within normal range and, if not, what type and degree of hearing loss is present.

Hearing loss comes in a few distinct types, and that distinction matters. The right approach for one person can be completely wrong for another.
